Safe Arrivals: Defending Unaccompanied Minors

Unaccompanied minors are exceptionally vulnerable. They rarely have access to legal representation, making them likely to be deported to their home countries where they have no parents and no escape from routine violence.

As part of our humanitarian mission, we provide direct representation to vulnerable young people and coordinate training and representation for interested pro bono attorneys.

How you can help

Pro bono attorneys attend a training and then are paired with an unaccompanied minor to defend. One of our attorneys will be available for consultation after client/attorney assignment. Possible legal relief options available for minors are Asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, or T Visa (Human Trafficking).

Religious, civic, student, and community groups are encouraged to request a speaker for a gathering. In addition to hearing about our humanitarian work, groups participate in special welcoming activities for our clients.

We accept referrals from nationwide agencies to represent unaccompanied minors in Tennessee. For more information about our Safe Arrivals Program, make a referral, or request a speaker call (615) 477-2009 or email wade@tnjfon.org.
