Survivor's Relief: Empowering Immigrant Victims of Violence

Immigrants are disproportionately victims of violent crimes in the United States. In order to protect victims and foster dialogue between immigrant communities and law enforcement agencies, survivors of certain qualifying events (human trafficking, sexual and domestic abuse, extortion, etc.) can apply for U Visas and other form of relief.

In 2014 Tennessee Justice for Our Neighbors helped 48 individuals with U Visa applications. This represents a 21 percent increase from the previous year. Only 10,000 U Visa applications are approved in the United States each year.
